FAMILIE FLOZ

TEATRO DELUSIO

On 21 August, the Latvian premiere of the iconic theatrical production Teatro Delusio by the world-renowned German-based theatre company Familie Flöz will take place at Dzintari Concert Hall in Jūrmala. The performance will be presented within the framework of the international project Baltijas Balva / Baltic Awards. Teatro Delusio is a virtuoso, wordless comedy theatre piece that, with subtle irony and remarkable precision, reflects on everyday life, dreams, doubts, and hopes. It is a metaphorical performance - a “theatre about theatre” - in which masks, physical theatre, pantomime, and refined acting skills are used to create more than 30 vivid and multi-layered characters. Each of them possesses a distinct personality, inner contradictions, and aspirations, allowing audiences to easily recognise themselves or those around them in these figures. The production reveals two contrasting sides of the stage: the dazzling illusion of success and the hidden backstage reality of theatrical life, filled with comic situations, inner reflection, ambition, and human vulnerability. The humour here is not superficial, but sharp and observant — humour that invites self-reflection and the freedom to laugh at one’s own recognisable traits. Premiered in Berlin in 2004, Teatro Delusio immediately gained international acclaim. The production was triumphantly presented at the Edinburgh Festival and has since been performed more than 600 times in 29 countries worldwide - from Europe to Asia and South America. Today, it is regarded the signature work of Familie Flöz and a model of universal theatrical art, accessible to audiences of all cultures, ages, and social backgrounds. The troupe’s distinctive style is based on a synthesis of mask theatre, music, and exceptional physical mastery, combined with a defining feature of all their productions - sharp satire and refined, intelligent humour. Without uttering a single word, Teatro Delusio tells a story of human ambition and vulnerability, success and achievement, dreams and illusions - with lightness, wit, and unexpected emotional depth. The inclusion of Teatro Delusio in the programme of Baltijas Balva / Baltic Awards has been made possible through the partnerships of the Inese Galante Foundation and highlights the project’s strong international significance. The performance resonates organically with the core idea of Baltijas Balva / Baltic Awards, offering an ironic yet precise look behind the scenes of professional journeys - a world where ideas are born, doubts are overcome, and excellence is achieved. These stories reflect not only theatrical backstage life, but also the paths of talented creators across many fields, whose dedication, inner strength, and commitment lead to recognition and prestigious awards. Teatro Delusio offers audiences an evening of sincere laughter and warm emotions, filled with a sense of lightness and inspiration. The performance promises vivid impressions and a truly memorable theatrical experience - one that leaves a lasting smile. Do not miss the chance to experience a legendary production that has captivated audiences around the world — now, for the first time in Latvia.

VIVA LA MUSICA!

GALA GALANTE

On August 22, the concert “GALA GALANTE. Viva La Musica!” - one of the most significant musical events of the summer - will take place at the Dzintari Concert Hall in Jūrmala. The festive evening is dedicated to the laureates of the prestigious international Baltic Awards. At the invitation of opera diva Inese Galante, a constellation of Latvian and international stars will join her on stage. Staying true to tradition, the concert will bring together world-renowned vocalists, outstanding instrumentalists, and and leading representatives of the contemporary music scene to create a truly exceptional musical experience. The programme will feature both famous arias and beloved masterpieces of world music across various genres - from opera to jazz - presented in original arrangements and performed in unexpected duets and ensembles, a hallmark of the GALA GALANTE concerts. This year, the concert will be imbued with a distinctive Italian flair, as the special guest will be the Italian opera singer Giorgio Berrugi — one of the leading tenors of our time, named by Plácido Domingo as his artistic heir. The gala concert will feature charismatic tenor Dmytro Popov (Ukraine), expressive vocalist with a wide vocal range Elina Nechayeva (Estonia), renowned pianist Andrejs Osokins, the dynamic and highly expressive NICO Ensemble (Lithuania), one of the brightest sopranos of the younger generation Annija Kristiāna Ādamsone, deep-voiced bass Edgars Ošleja, young piano virtuoso and true wunderkind Gustavs Kalējs (12), as well as other artists. The orchestra will be conducted by renowned conductor Ekhart Wycik (Germany). All these distinguished artists will be brought together on one stage by the opera diva and Chair of the Selection Committee of the Baltijas Balva / Baltic Awards, Inese Galante (Latvia). The event will also be attended by Matīss Kaža, producer of the Academy Award-winning animated film Flow (Straume), Baltic Awards laureate, and member of the Baltic Awards Honorary Selection Committee. Traditionally, the evening will open with a ceremonial red carpet reception, welcoming prominent figures from the worlds of culture, business, and politics. The gala concert, celebrating outstanding achievements of the Baltic states in science, architecture, art, and music, will unite honoured guests from around the world in the audience - including the 2026 Baltic Awards laureates, members of the Awards Committee, as well as representatives of partner organisations from Lithuania, Estonia, and other European countries. Talented artists, brilliant performances, and an elegant audience will create an unforgettable atmosphere, once again transforming Jūrmala into a symbol of refined cultural summer - the Latvian Riviera. The evening promises to be filled with musical surprises, unexpected artistic ideas, and vivid, uplifting emotions that will stay with the audience long after the final note.
