Awards Ceremony

“Baltijas Balva/Baltic Awards” is a project of the “Inessa Galante Foundation” in cooperation with public and educational institutions, professional associations and diplomatic missions of the three Baltic countries – Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia.

Each concert will provide an artistic interpretation of a specific field with a specially designed program and performers.

The concerts aim to appeal to a broad segment of society while maintaining a high level of quality and sophistication.

The award will become a bright, broad and important cultural event, which will take place every year in Riga and Jurmala, in the Dzintari concert hall for several days. The first "Baltijas Balva/Baltic Award" will be held next year, from August 15th to 17th, 2025.

AWARD DESIGN

balvaaaaaa-78.png

"The shape of each award is irregular, plastic, made from various prints of trees growing in Latvia. From different times and places, as eyewitnesses of life, thus symbolizing the imprints left by the lines of life. When I look at trees every day, I see that no two trees are the same, just like every person has his own life story and main task. Over the years, we acquire both roughness and fineness - up to a polished shine. This is part of our people, the Baltics - verticals, people, big trees, hope, strength, passion, lines of light experience."

The author of the award, glass artist Anda Munkevica

ANDA
MUNKEVICA

Anda Munkevica, an outstanding Latvian glass artist with more than thirty years of experience, creates works where allegorical and symbolic images are connected with deep existential reflections and ethical dilemmas. Her philosophically contemplative spatial installations and extensive work cycles reveal the artist's ability to highlight the visual and sensual qualities of glass. Munkevica masters various glass processing techniques, creating works that compose the interplay of color and light, giving them a unique sensuality.
